Australian Muslims are opening one of their largest mosques on Saturday, March 6, to non-Muslims to dispel misconceptions and promote a better image of their faith.
“We're trying to assimilate and work with each other, and to try and get a better understanding of what Islam is really about,” Sheik Yahya Safi, the imam of the Lakemba Mosque, told Australia’s The Daily Telegraph Friday, March 5.

A leading Islamic scholar has issued a fatwa in Britain condemning "terrorists" as the enemies of Islam, in a bid to deter young Muslims from extremism.
Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, head of the Minhaj ul-Quran religious and educational organisation, said suicide bombers were destined for hell as he released his 600-page edict in London on Tuesday.
"They can't claim that their suicide bombings are martyrdom operations and that they become the heroes of the Muslim Umma [the wider Muslim community], no, they become heroes of hellfire, and they are leading towards hellfire," he said.

Binyamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, is alleged to have given the green light for last month's assassination of a senior Hamas figure, according to a British newspaper.
The Sunday Times, citing "sources with knowledge of Mossad", reported on Sunday that Netanyahu visited the Israeli intelligence headquarters in early January and, after being brief, authorised the killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.
A rehearsal of the operation, which reportedly involved at least 18 agents, was apparently carried out at a Tel Aviv hotel - without detection - prior to the briefing.
